Beth Blankenship
Strange… 2011
Glass beads, thread, felt; hand-stitched
7 x 11.75 x 6.75″
Kamm Collection 2011.79.1

Beth Blankenship made this teapot as a soft sculpture with a fixed lid. It is covered with stitched glass beads that have a brilliant blue color. Images are created with accent colors of tea cups and saucers, a tea ball strainer, a tea bag, tea leaves and sugar cubes. Text flows across the teapot body: Strange how a teapot, can represent at the same time, the comforts of solitude, and the pleasures of company.
