Connie Roberts based this carved and painted wooden sculpture on the name “George”. The silver teapot features King George on the side and St. George on top. The surrounding small pieces can be stored inside the teapot. They include a guitar (George Harrison), a dancing couple (Georgie Porgy), a one-dollar bill (George Washington), the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, a portrait of Boy George, a theater ticket (George Bernard Shaw), an album cover (George Gershwin), Curious George the monkey, a portrait of George Sand, a George Foreman grill, and the stand-up comedian George Burns.
All of these small carvings and the teapot are functioning whistles. Look closely to see the notched openings. This feature is common to all of Connie Roberts’ sculptures.
