This Cunard cube set has a gray and yellow banded pattern on an ivory ground. It was designed in 1936 and produced through the 1950s for use on the Cunard ship, the RMS Queen Mary. This particular tea set is marked “Cunard Steam Ship Company, Foley, Bone China, Stoniers”. The likely manufacturer of this set is E. Brain & Co. who used the name Foley Bone China on their backstamp. Stonier & Co. (Liverpool, England, est. 1861) was a retailer and distributor of china and glassware, having notably outfitted the Titanic in 1912.

Jonathan Quayle wrote about the Cunard cube set in a blog post published by The Pursers Locker. He describes differences in the ivory color and marks during the production period. He also notes a special “Souvenir” version of the set.
