The Dirk Van Erp Shop was founded in 1908 by the Dutch American metalsmith Dirk Van Erp (1860-1933) in the Bay area of California. His son, William Van Erp (1901-1977) worked in the shop and took over the business after his father’s death. This silverplated set was made when William ran the shop. It has a maker’s mark that was used from 1950 until 1977 when William died and the shop closed.
The set has a large coffee pot with a pouring lip instead of a conventional spout. The set was likely commissioned as it is monogrammed with an applied “G”.
