Artist Jerolyn Crute Sackman makes wonderful objects from paper and colored inks. Her pinwheels look like exotic flowers in the garden. See them at Paper Arboretum.
Sonny and Gloria Kamm commissioned Sackman to create a sculpture for their teapot collection. She had the idea of a floral teapot. “I love the beauty of flowers and their power to cheer the spirit and express the exuberance of life. I thought that the teapot when it builds up steam is like nature bursting forth and releasing energy.” Indeed, flowers are bursting forth from Sackman’s teapot. So much so, that the lid has blown off. Four teacups hang from the base. She states: “I incorporated the idea of more than one cup, as the best experiences in life are shared whether with another person or nature itself.”
Jerolyn Crute Sackman used a variety of papers to construct this sculpture. She made the flowers and leaves from acid-free 60lb polar matte paper and Epson archival inks. The teapot, lid and cups are made of Japanese wallpaper and maple wood veneer. The base is made of Chinese handmade paper, Wyndstone sea black paper, and black handmade paper.
