Kem (Karl Emanuel Martin) Weber was an architect and designer who is known for his streamlined furniture of the 1930s. He was born and educated in Germany, relocated to California early in his career, and worked with clients and manufacturers all over the United States. Weber was an influential proponent of Modernism in Los Angeles where he was most active.
Weber designed this Art Deco silverplated tea set for the Friedman Silver Company as part of a larger commission. A related cocktail shaker and tray is in the collection of the Cooper Hewitt Museum.
