Leslie Grigsby modeled this teapot sculpture after an ancient Egyptian mummy case. She covered a wooden armature with colorful woven beadwork to create the facial features and ceremonial dress. On the back side, Grigsby used a lotus plant motif that includes a handle in the design. A projecting lotus flower is part of the “lid” that lifts off the main sculpture. The teapot spout is represented by the snake on the headdress.
