Artist and woodworker Ron Layport creates bowls, vessels, and sculpture that feature animal and plant designs. In 2012, he described how this Red Bird Teapot came about:

“This is the second year I’ve been invited to participate in Morgan Gallery’s Teapot show. It’s refreshing to step away from my vessel work and simply let fly, with ideas that might otherwise never come to fruition. As I rendered this piece, I was transported back to the excitement and mystery of hand-painted amusement park and penny arcade imagery. A far cry from my usual palette. I had a lot of fun.”
