Shawnee Pottery was located in Zanesville, Ohio, an area rich with natural deposits of clay and known for its pottery factories. Shawnee produced a popular line of “corn” dinner ware along with pig cookie jars and other whimsical works. This teapot is based on the nursery rhyme “Tom, Tom, the piper’s son, stole a pig, and away he run.”
