This sterling silver Tiffany kettle has a hinged lid and sits on a stand with a burner. The smooth, polished surface contrasts with the braided texture on the spout, handle and stand rim. There is a floral texture on the lid finial. Tiffany marked the kettle with pattern number 5335, which they introduced in 1878.
This mostly unadorned kettle is modern looking for the Victorian era. Compare to another Tiffany design from the 1880s.
Another version of this kettle-on-stand is at the Dallas Museum of Art. Theirs has an engraved Japanese design.
