Michael Cardew was an important studio potter working in England and Africa. He studied with Bernard Leach before setting up his first of several subsequent potteries. This stoneware teapot was produced at the Abuja Pottery in Nigeria, which Cardew established as a training center. The Kamm Collection also has several slip-decorated earthenware pots for which Michael Cardew is known.
