Artist Red Sandlin based this teapot sculpture on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Here, she faces off with the wolf, looking more like Superman than the victim of the original tale. Sandlin made a facsimile book from painted wood and used it as a plinth. Both the wolf and the girl are teapots with removable lids. You can see the spout opening on the girl’s elbow in the detail photo. Sandlin creates remarkable detail in her work, such as the modeling of the girl’s expression and bangs. Interestingly, this face is Sandlin’s own.
